God, Who Sees Us, Blesses a Healing Student

Picture
This horse Cobre [pronounced Co-Bray], "Bre" for short, might be a miracle horse.  Bre's owner Sarah rescued her from slaughter, and now God is using this mare to bless His beloved children.  Bre is sensitive, meek, and gentle.  Can you see it in her eyes?

Listen to this...
Last week we were teaching students about leading their horses.  Students practiced leading them to treasures, and leading their horses to safety.  We chatted about the horse's tendency to wander and forage, and our human nature.  We talked about allowing God to intervene in our lives, inviting Him to lead us to good things and away from dangers.  We talked about trusting God with our lives because He knows and sees everything ahead, and because He is good and He loves us.

During one of these sessions, I became irritated that this horse Bre was walking too close to one of our students.  Our student's arm was in a sling recovering from an injury.  Bre was walking with her head almost wrapped around the student's hurt arm.  I was thinking "push the horse's head away, she's too close."  But thankfully someone more astute than myself commented "Bre is PROTECTING the girl's hurt arm!"  They were right.  Bre only walked that way, her head bent shielding the tender arm, when that particular student was leading her.  Bre walked normally with all the other students.  I have heard of horses doing similar things, but this was the first time I got to see it firsthand.

Bre's tenderness draws a picture of our Heavenly Father who SEES us when we're hurting, and comforts us in our pain.  Coming of age is no easy experience ever, and currently it seems particularly challenging as students are forced to navigate the firehose of confusion coming at them through various channels.  For many of our students, GOOD REINS is experienced as "God sees me, He loves me, and He's blessing me."

We give a HUGE thank you to the individuals and organizations who continue to support GOOD REINS as we forge ahead with our mission:
GROWING STUDENTS' CONFIDENCE & FAITH
